If your supporters are your best marketers how does this affect how you should fundraise? Understanding the paradigm shift in marketing will give you belief and confidence to implement change and figure out how to adapt your fundraising programme so it is more effective.
FIND YOUR WHY
What is your purpose, mission, or impossible dream? Why does your organisation exist? What are your beliefs? Finding your 'WHY' will ensure you tell consistent stories that will build your reputation i.e. what other people say about you.
ENGAGE THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU BELIEVE
Who are the people and organisations who believe in what you believe? How can you attract their attention? Your story can be stronger and more convincing coming from them than it is coming from you! Find others to tell your story.
TELL A GREAT STORY
Tell your story in an engaging way that connects with those who believe what you believe. Who is the hero in your story? Who is the villain ? What are the obstacles in the way and the struggle you face? All are elements of a great story. How can you encourage and equip people to share and tell your story?
GIVE AN EXPERIENCE THAT PEOPLE WILL SHARE
How can you give a 'wow' when people donate? It will give people something more to talk about. A little bit of effort is a simple and effective way for supporters to spread your story to their friends, family, and colleagues.
BE READY TO REACT
The moment when people are most interested in you is when they press send on an email to you or take the trouble to call you. This is a moment you have their attention.

SET UP NEW MEASURES
What you measure is what you do. If it's now about how to inspire people to spread your story (not how to get money out of people) you need new measures in place to encourage the right activities. How many people who believe in your mission are you engaging?
